Harnas was listed in the 2010 Yearbook by Andrey from Belarus as det, with very good yield of dark red oblate-round 100-120 gm fruits, all purpose use, early, from Polish CV PNOS, Ozarow Mazowiecki

I have started a couple of Harnas, which is the only RL variety listed by PNOS Ozarow Mazowiecki as "very early" along with (similar?) PL varieties Betalux and Szach, which I of course also have somewhere.

Hey OneoftheEarls... good looking fruits, sir - I might have to try and get ahold of some Harnas seed for next season.

Are you a fellow Canuck? I'm up in Edmonton. One question.. the second photo.. the leaves on the bottom right that looks a bit chewed up.. is that septoria or early blight by chance? I've got some going on on a few of my plants and I don't really have a positive ID on it.

Northern MI, I will be trading seed this fall and I have not ID'd the stem issues but it has happened on most in the backyard garden, I am plucking, putting grass around and keeping moisture correct and letting nature take it's course at this point.

Photos and weight of mature Harnas will be posted.

This particular sample is twice to three times as heavy as listed with the SSE description.

Earl - how does it compare w/ Stupice in earliness and flavor?

Earl,
I assume it is a determinate plant. Did the plant display any heat tolerance?

It has not been tested for heat tolerance...I would classify these are early cool varieties.

Earl,

You mentioned you had Stupice growing pretty close to the Harnas and it produced earlier than the Stupice. Do you have any comparisons to Early Wonder?

Ted
