How about "Ugly" Tomatoes this year
I just couldn't resist posting this picture. It has to be the ugliest tomato I grew this year. The only thing close to it was the ones that the heat and excess rain cracked and burst the skins on.
BTW, this Purple Calabash was still VERY tasty (at least parts of it). Anybody else got some "freakies"? Ted

No need to shave it, but could you teach it to walk backwards?

My second KBX that I picked looked like that except for the color. It weighed in at 22 ounces and tasted great but there was so much that couldn't be eaten because of all the lobes. After that one strange one every other tomato off of the KBX was picture perfect.

Devil, I AM close to Oak Ridge, TN, where there is a lot of real estate where they tell you not to use the ground water.

Fire up the juicer, or make salsa. Even the chickens might balk at that one!

RinTinTin, the chickens threw it back and demanded answers.
I was able to cut it up and add to some juice I was making. It really is a great tasting tomato, though you have to be good with the carving/paring knife to get the meat/seeds separated out. Tania, this seems to be typical of this variety. At least the ones I grew. It has been a very strange year in the garden here at the Muddy Bucket Farm. Ted
