Default What are these markings? (pic)

Hope you can see in the picture - there are lots of little lines ringing the stem, and they can also be on other parts of the fruit. Somehow I think this is related to the weather getting colder - I don't think I noticed this in the summer. I also notice that when I get a tomato with all these little parallel marks, the tomato is a little soft in those places and overall doesn't taste as good. Does anyone have any idea what they are?

Third picture down, it's called weather checking.

And no, as the temps get cooler the tomato fruits, any of them, don't taste as good, but that has notrhing to do with the condition called weather checking, which can affect some varieties and not others in my eperience.

I concur that the weather checking is happening with some varieties and not others.
