Fertilizing on hot days?

Question:

Is it ok to fertilize tomatoes when the temps are up into the 90's?

I have noticed that, while most of my tomato plants have lots of green fruit, the plants have slowed way down in their foliage growth. (I guess the burden of ripening fruit causes that...) Anyway, I have only fertilized once since planting, which was a foliar feed of fish emulsion. I'm considering doing it again, or else maybe using some fish emulsion to water the roots. I am hoping this will give the foliage a boost. But it is supposed to be way up in the 90's, and I'm afraid it might stress the plants to get fertilized when the heat is so intense.

Does anyone have any thoughts/suggestions about this?

If they're doing fine there's no need to fertilize more. Better to have not fertilized enough than to fertilized to much.

Michael, tomato garden's doing fine, but late getting other stuff planted. To much to do for my ol' worn out bones to keep up with. :-) Besides, my neighbor's Burmuda grass has invaded my yard and it's giving me a real hard time as it's trying to take over my garden. That stuff is relentless!

Earl-Many of my containers were wasted by my neighbors pesticide spraying, so its been a very bad year so far. Am trialing several new dwarves by direct seed in an attempt to save some of the season.
