German Giant Parat Radish - True to its Claim on the Package
Very rarely do I find the (glowing) description on a seed package actually translates into actual results. Here was a description for a Radish that I simply couldn't believe:
"""Comments: Red Globes as Big as Baseballs. Never gets too hot or fibrous. Ready at marble size, but sweet and mild no matter how large they get. A few feed a crowd! Approximately 250 seeds per packet. 29 days.""" So when I started to harvest them a few days ago, I thought they had sent me Beet seeds instead: While not quite baseball size, some of the ones I've picked are near tennis-ball diameter. Taste has been pretty good too. http://gurneys.com/german-giant-parat-radish-/p/14965/ Raybo |

Good looking radishes indeed! I've grown those last spring, very tasty, and not too hot. I did let them get to near tennis ball size as you mentioned, but never had enough patience to let the grow any longer.
Maybe this year Regards, D |
