Default Mr. Brown

I just sowed some Mr. Brown seeds. This is my first time ever growing these. Has anybody else ever grown it?
Tatiana's calls it a "sport" of Brown Flesh but without the stripes or hollow cells.

Patience is a virtue
Find it if you can
You'll find it with a woman
But seldom with a man.

QED.

And yes I know of the variety Mr. Brown but have never had an interest in growing it. Why does it appeal to you, just curious.

I was looking over a variety list for maters I wanted to order and saw it. It intrigued me so I ordered some. It seems to be an obscure variety. I only got 5 seeds because that is all the person had.

I'm not so sure how obscure it is. I knew of it from the SSE Yearbooks where it was first listed by Jeff Dawson in CA in I think 2003, short terms memory here b'c I just read Tania's link above.

And there are a couple of places that offer it commercially as you'll see in her link.

I have to admit that I'm not that fond of so called "black" muddy brown/black/grey/usually green shouldered/ liver looking flesh varieties when I grow tomatoes, but to each his or her own.

Well it better taste good.

The way you rattled off those stats you could have been a NASCAR driver.

I was. When I was in college atop the hill from Ithaca, NY, I drove the short track at Watkins Glen.

You go girl. Maybe you can get some seed companies to sponsor you... or are you retired from NASCAR?

I grew a Mr Brown back around 2007. If it was the same tomato, I think you might be disappointed. I only got two tomatoes off the plant the entire season...but after tasting them, that was a good thing. If they weren't the worst tomato I ever tasted they were darned close...a real spitter.
Sorry I couldn't find anything better to say about them. Maybe you'll have better luck. I never tried them a second year.

I never grew them but sent the seeds by request to WillysWoodPile...Tatania's description was not all that enticing for me....I have a few Mr. and Mrs. in my collection.

Heading soon to collect breakfast cereal bowls to recycle as my growing containers....

Of course if it's considered a spitter it must be doing quite well. Meet the infamous Mr. Brown.
