Mandarin tomato
Anyone ever grow this one? The Ibsen site made it sound quite good. Piegirl

Would this be the same as Mandarin Cross? I grew it some years back. Didn't take notes, but I recall it being fairly prolific and disease resistant. In fact, I almost grew it again this year.

bought it from a local guy - the container said Mandarin, I did a search when I got home, it sounds interesting - think Gary Ipsen's tomatofest site. piegirl

I haven't ggrown it but it's long been lsited in the SSE YEarbooks as both Mandarin as well as Mandarin Cross and I see no major difference in the descriptions of those two entries.
Looking at my older Yearbooks there used to be more listings for it, but not in recent years. In the 2011 Yearbook one person lists it as Mandarin and says 3 inch fruits and very prolific and no taste comments at all. Three persons list it as Mandarin Cross, Glenn Drowns at Sandhill says large size orange, thick flesh, no taste comment.`Another person says beautiful sweet large orange fruits, seeds from Sandhill. A third person says 8-10 oz orange fruit, good flavor, good yield, no seed source given http://t.tatianastomatobase.com:88/wiki/Mandarin_Cross As Tania, notes, originally a Japanese tomato and the name should be Madarin Cross. And she also notes that Glenn Drowns at Sandhill was the first to list it and without looking at some of his back catalogs I know he's listed it for many many years. Hope that helps, and no, I never grew it. If you want to grow it why not shop around to see where prices are best/# of seeds and I guess that would include Sandhill and I think I saw that Tania herself was selling seeds for it, short term memory problem here, or Tomatofest.
