Default my Kennebec Potatoes in straw

Here is my potoatos growing in straw 3 weeks old , some leaves are being eating. What should i do?

Flea beetles, snails, slugs and others can make holes...got any diatomaceous earth to sprinkle around? My plants get pretty holey and still produce great potatoes, though.
