I'm a little surprised that Brandywine wasn't higher up on your list. I know taste is largely subjective, but I have heard from more than a few people that it is the best tasting tomato of all!
I hope to grow KBX next year because of the reviews I've read of its taste and am glad to see you like it too. Now Pork Chop has been added to my must grow someday list. I might try it next year if I have room in the garden. Thanks Irv |

Irv there was a day when Sudduth Brandywine WAS at the top of my list. This is my 20th year. Maybe you get used to something and it loses it's sexiness over time LOL. Then along comes a new SWEET new variety that floors you! LOL!!!
Filmnet...please report back when you get to taste it...

Here's a link to my photo of it ripe. http://seedsample.com/wp-content/upl.../porkchop2.jpg Here's a link to a photo of it unripe. http://seedsample.com/wp-content/upl...stillgreen.jpg Here's what I wrote about it last year: This beauty from Brad Gates was my surprise taste winner of the 2010 growing season. It is a very pretty beefsteak with its stripes. As it grows it develops light and dark green stripes then it becomes yellow and green striped and finally yellow and yellow/orange striped. I thought the flavor was fantastic, and I really wasn’t expecting it. I liked it so much I'm growing it again, Remy

This is what localharvest says about it.
"Porkchop is a great looking and pleasant tasting tomato. Flavor is not as strong as some of my varieties, more typical yellow with nice sweetness. Reliable production of 1/2-3/4 pound slightly flattened beefsteak. Yellow with green stripes that turn gold at maturity." |

Barry, here's more info on Pork Chop at Tatiana's database:
http://t.tatianastomatobase.com:88/wiki/Pork_Chop Remy, how big did yours get last season? Tataiana's calls it a medium size. Mine was just slightly larger than what I call a medium but not a large. Also, what production did you get? TIA!

I just checked out Tatiana's and their description is incorrect which doesn't happen often on there. It is listed as round, but it is a smaller beefsteak. Local Harvest is Brad's description.
http://www.localharvest.org/rare-tom...porkchop-C7842 They were 1/2-1 lb. for me. I got a lot last year though they ripened on the late side. I remember I had almost forgotten I had the plants when all the sudden I a ton of fruit almost like a late determinate. We'll see what happens this year. Remy

Mine was a somewhat flattened beefstake too. Nice to know they are 8 to 16 ounces! Greyghost brought one over for me to try. Now I will mooch more from her! LOL She lives nearby and starts the best plants I ever saw! I'll be growing a few Pork Chop's myself next year for sure! THanx!
