Dana's Dusky Rose

So far, the tomatoes from my Dana's Dusky Rose plant are all about golf ball size (a tad smaller than my Morosky Div, so around 2-3 oz). They taste great, but I was expecting something a bit larger.

I'm wondering what others have experienced with this variety...

I bought seeds from Dana for last year and the fruits that I grew looked like what you describe. Did you get seeds from me?

I recall reading somewhere that others had fruit like ours, but I think the description from Dana's website details a more beefsteak-like size and shape.

I think I might have, through the yearbook!

So far all are golf ball size- I just wanted to see if what I had was growing true and it sounds like it is- at least it is true to what you sent me!

I'm trying to pick favorites to grow next year and this one is a keeper, the flavor is excellent.

I have one on the table now that is 6 oz. and I know I've picked a few that are somewhat larger - probably in the 10 oz. range.

Someone is listing Dana's Dusty Rose in the Yearbook and sending out seeds from golf ball size fruit? I guess I'm asking if all the fruit on the plant average golf ball size. That wouldn't be the correct seed, in my opinion.

ALL my DDR this year were 6--8 oz.

Mine last year were what I would call medium size about 8 ounces.

Raccoons did the taste test on most of them .

Mine were all a squatty beefsteak shape with a bit of buttoning on the bottom and ranged from 4.4 to 6.9 oz.- disappointing.

Above is Dana's webpage where she describes this variety and note that she's selling seeds and says it's just the third year that she's grown it.

Since I've seen other threads about the variability folks are getting with this variety i think it's entirely possible that it's not yet genetically stable.

Going out to the F3 generation usually is not sufficient to get to a stable OP state.

So if seeds are traded or offered in the SSE YEarbook it seems to me that almost anything might appear as to size, taste and who knows what else. And it would be the same if seeds were purchased directly from Dana as I see it.

Mine are all one pound or more and first picking was 5 second picking will be more I just let it sprawl but I do trim a lot of foliage
