Default Infos needed, please!

I've got several seed packages of Russian and Ukrainian tomatoes with nothing than the Russian name and descriptions on them. I could put together all my nearly forgotten Russian knowledge and transcribe the names, but read and understand the descriptions - no chance! Therefore every single info is very much appreciated!

Deliziosus (not Delicious, the Burpee variety)
Denar
Dworzowij
Lagidnij (found a few infos at Tania's site, but would like to have more)
Linda Tscherwona
Persona
Wolgogradskij 5/95

All these varieties are red as I can see on the packages.

Thank you for your help! clara

The reason I ask is if the site has the descriptions listed the below link to a translation site does a pretty good job on translating Russian and other related languages. Ami

Thank you for the link, Ami, but the descriptions are only on the packages. Perhaps Andrey will chime in and add some infos as the packages are all commercial ones - at least I hope so! clara

Hi Clara!

Yes, I know some varieties from your list.

Dvortsovyi - a mid-early, det. (80-120 cm high) plant with a good yield of red, oblate, meaty and ribbed 250-600 g fruits, good flavour, from Russian CV Biotechnika, St.Peterburg.

Lagidniy - a mid-early, tree-type plant (h 40-60 cm) with a good yield of dark-red, plum-shaped 60-90 g fruits, a good canner. Ukrainian CV

Volgogradskiy 5/95 - midseason to mid-late, indet. vigorous tree-type 70-100 cm plant with an excellent yield of red oblate 100-150 g fruits with very good flavour, all purpose (fresh, ketchup and canning), start at home 60-70 days before transplant when grow not in the South, from Russian CV dev. in the late 1940s by Volgograd AES of VNIIR from a cross Kuban' 557 x Chernomorets 175.

Persona (from Ukrainian CV Elitsort or Russian CV Sedek) - early, determinate, bush height 0,9-1 m, red flattened-globe shaped fruit, 120-200 g, an old-fashioned taste with a bit of acidity like we like most in former USSR countries.

Denar - a mid-early, determinate RL plant wit ha high yield of red, plum-shaped with pointed end fruits (80-100 g), from Ukrainian CV.

Linda Tscherwona = Linda Krasnaya (="Red Linda" in English) - an early, superdeterminate plant with a high yield of small red cherry fruits, great for patio. Usually they call it simply Linda. There is also Linda Rozovaya (Pink Linda).

Thanks, Clara. Growing space is always a problem and I've got new to me seeds here enough for 5-7 years to try every year only new varieties

Andrey, nearly all of us seem to have the same problem..., but as your descriptions sound so promising, I've just ordered 10 more Russian/Ukrainian varieties from the same vendor. Among them will be Linda Rozovaya, so I need not ask infos for it. Thanks again!

LuvsToPlant: The descriptions are ONLY on the packages, not on the vendor's site! Otherwise I would have found a way to translate them. clara

I see...
It seemed to me I had found a site in the Europe with a translation change of description as well ...through Google.
I have never had to use it very often.
Well I hope you get some help.
Good luck!
