Default Some Tomatoes 2011

Some of the tomatoes grown 2011.
Monserrat these were from seed i brought back from Greece in 2005, were still in sealed pack and germination was very good 90% .
Amorosa F2 have been very pleased with these the flavour and quality very good .
Sunstream F2 only grew one plant but was very impressed .
Zapotec these were seeds saved from last years crop which had done well .
Harlequin have grown these for 5 years they never let me down always the first to ripen and the last to pick plus they taste great.
I have started a few dwarf types already these are a bit slow at moment , just on a south facing window sill indoors, they are “ Sweet & neat “ and “ Venus “.
Ps. My tomato patch is round the back ( I wish!! ).

Lovely pictures, spannerwiz - thanks for sharing. I was noting the great tomato supporting posts at the front of 'your' house!

Lovely photos- they make it easy to understand why some people love to grow tomatoes even though they don't enjoy eating any...just beautiful!

Yes. A very nice set of shots.
You must have a lot of skill growing plants like that in such small pots.
I have enough trouble growing them in the ground.
Do you care to share what your mix in the pots is?

Default My Mix

The mix I use is nothing fancy , general purpose compost or some times I split up growbags which I add 2 table spoons approx of dried “ blood fish & bone “ plus 2 spoons of general fertilizer 7-7-7 per 3 gallon pot . Works for me , always stand pots in large saucers to catch surplus water

Did you use any of the Zapotec for drying? Actually, any of them? They are so gorgeous, you must have had tremendous will power to not eat before snapping them.

The Sunstreams look pretty darn close to my F1's - the only thing is they cost me $1200 for a pack of 1,000 seeds.

Those are some amazing photos. I love the way Zapotec and Monserrat look. How do those two taste?

Great photos - thanks for posting! I was wondering how you folks in England deal with all the rain and cool temperatures - esp. this year! How do you deal with it, growing tomatoes?
