Solar Flare, PB Tie-Dye, & Pineapple Pig, OH MY......
Started from seed on March 5th in a Burpee 36 cell greenhouse on top of my Comcast cable box. Then potted up in 16 oz styrofoam cups with two drain holes at bottom of each cup. I used Happy Frog Potting Soil as media. I have the 150watt MH on a timer for 16hrs per day. I am going to start harden half of them off tomorrow for about one hour per day for a week.
Will be doing them in 12 gallon buckets I acquired from work. Going to do 5 Solars, 5 PB Tie-Dyes, & 4 Pineapple Pigs. I grew twice as many in case I needed backups so I will give away what I don't use to people at work! |

I had the light about a foot lower yesterday but it seemed to be cranking out alot of heat. What temp is safe for seedlings?

UPDATE
Transplanted them for 16oz cups to 2 gallon pots. Went to worms way and they had these 2 gallon pots for 1.25 each and they seem to be durable enough to get a few years use!!

Very nice. Is this they're final pot or are you doing a bigger?
I'm growing the red Berkley Tie Die. My first time with any of the Boar tomatoes, also Brad's Black Heart. They both have flowers, quicker than any of the others, besides KBX. Strong looking plants, too! What do you use for mix in your containers? I'm doing a couple of dwarfs in containers, I've not really ever done containers before. I need to get them into their pot real soon, like two weeks ago. Luckily, they're a pretty early variety, Lime Green Salad, so should be ok. On your light fixture,I use fluorescents and can get within an inch or two of the seedlings without any heat. I have the super cheap 4 foot light fixtures from HD, I think they were $6.00 pere fixture. I have a three shelf rack on wheels, kind of like you can find at a restaurant supply store. Fits the 4 foot lights perfectly. I think they have a 2 foot fixture, too. |

Right now they are in happy frog potting mix. When they go into the 12 gallon buckets, I will be doing Raybo's 3:2:1 I have been hardening them off for a week so now they will live on the front porch for a week or two. They just out grew the kitchen. |
