38 days later...Houston garden pics
Okay, really 36 days later, but the 38 was in reference to 28 Days Later. I got the feeling Feldon wanted to see some garden pics.
I haven't posted photos before. I hope I'm following the rules. Cherokee Purple, the first plant to set fruit. I am DEFINITELY saving seed from this CP. It's going nuts. Indian Stripe. The second to set fruit, but lagging considerably behind CP. I'll be looking to see if it goes further into the season than CP. Houston tomato fix: Dr. Wyche's setting fruit: garden 'panorama' LOL Replacement planting of Wes in the front and Neve's Azorean Red behind. Both plants have perked up considerably. And now the drama. Which plant will get the spot! Dr. Wyche's king blossom Wes, in a topsy-turvy tomato tree. I wanted to see what a heart might do in terms of branch breakage. That and my first Wes in the ground bit the dust. Finally, I leave you with the understated elegance of the tomato blossom: Well, there's my garden. She ain't perfect, but she's mine.

Thank you! Careful, 3 weeks can sneak up on you sometimes. I hope to update throughout the season if the heat doesn't drain me of the will.

Looks terrific. Yout started almost three weeks after me and your CP looks to be about the same height (first plant in panorama?). I'm growing in SA this year, but have been in Houston the last few seasons. No where near the himidity here and we really cuoldn't have asked for better tomato weather.
My Orange Minsk, Anna Russian, and Jersey Devil came from Another Place in Time over there. I had to go with started plants this spring. |

Great pics. Keep'm coming. The kind of photos I never get tired of looking at. Love the fact you supplied the variety names.
I recently purchased Wes for next spring so I will stay tuned to this thread to watch your Wes progress. |

I meant to put up this photo of Cherokee Purple and Indian Stripe. CP is the larger plant on the left.

Unfortunately, my first Wes bit the dust so I am working with Wes 2.0. I have fruit set on the tomato tree Wes. We'll see if I can get it ripe without breaking the vine. Thanks, also, Feldon. Will do.

Wow, that's a beast of a plant, coastal bend! Is that an EarthTainer? Your plant and fruit size are ahead of mine. Yes, it's a great year for fruit set so far. *fingers crossed*

They are earthBox's . They have 2 plants to the box. I grew a lot of tomatoes last year before the heat killed them. This year is a good start. The eb's on the left are Celebrity's and on the right , the one in the back is the cp and the other on is Sunpride which they say will make longer in the heat. I don't like it, to many leaves. I have had to spray it for worms already, no problem with the other plants. I look for a Is but couldn't find one down here If the cp's turn out, I'll will be planting more next year. Keep us informed on the Indian Stripe.

brengolio, How dose the Spudakee tomato compare to Cherokee Purple. I read that they produce more fruit and can take the heat better. My CP are looking good now but can really get hot here. We have already had some 100* days which is unusual for this time of year.
