Moravsky Div flashing color!
At a 117 days from seed ! Could be the best I have ever done. Holy smokes! The most interesting thing about it is German Extreme Bush and New Big Dwarf was started at the same time and spent a cozy 40 days n nights in the greenhouse setting fruit while Moravsky Div was outside the whole time!

I haven't grown it in a year or so, but it is a fine variety. Next year I think I will grow it again alongside Kimberley.

Ate my first Moravsky Div tonight. It was the best tasting first tomato of the year I've ever had. Most years for me the first tomato of the year is usually mushy and or tasteless. Not this year! A must try for people who are looking for early and good!

Will do Ray! Funny quick story, I was at home depot on Hamilton the other day browsing the garden section and ran into a guy that was scrambling to get everything he needed to make and Earthtainer. Lol.

I forgot to eat my Moravsky Div and it went South. O well, plenty more on the way.

It's a decent variety for me. Very early, yes, but fairly mushy all year long, and one of the toughest skins. Produces very steadily however, unlike many others which have cycles.

First blush on Moravsky Div today... 122 days from seed, not bad!
Stupice, Violet Jasper, and Black Cherry all set their first fruit on the same day as MDiv - Stupice actually opened its first flower two days earlier. So this is a real test of the part of 'earliness' which is a short time from set to ripe.. impressive. It is quite a decent sized fruit, I must say - bigger than a golf ball - and would make a half dozen black cherry I reckon.. but still ripening first. Can't wait to taste! |

Moravsky Div is my first to blush too. I was out looking last night to see if Sophie's Choice had started to blush, because it has some tomatoes that have looked full-sized (and surprisingly big) for awhile, and was surprised to see color instead on a little Moravsky Div fruit that I thought was still growing. I didn't track days, but I planted 5 weeks ago and there were flowers but no fruit on the Moravsky Div plant at the time, so this was less than 35 days from fruit set to blush. Sophie's Choice set fruit earlier -- immediately after planting, whereas this set at least a week or two later -- but the Sophie's Choice fruit are still very green. I am really pleased at how early this is, considering that I didn't even get around to planting early. It's not ready to taste yet.
