too hot to spray sulfur fungicide?
HI I am in NYC.I have been battling for a month now with what seems like every type of problem I can have in my tomato and pepper garden. I think I have won the whitefly battle (for now). I am trying to stay on top of early blight and what I believe to be septoria. I have some container tomatoes and some in the ground. I want to spray fungicide but it is so hot and humid now and for the next few days.I don't know if spraying is a good idea because of the weather, but then is not spraying a good idea because of the war I have declared on the fungus in my yard? Can anyone recommend the way to go? Which is the lesser of the 2 evils?

I was wondering the same thing. I think it's ok to ignore the 85 degree temperature guideline as long as you apply after sundown and it dries before it gets too hot the next day???

Nancy,
I can't speak to the sulfur fungicide, but I would agree with Cole Robbie on spraying in general. You don't have to wait till after sundown, but definitely evening, as you want them to dry out. If you can wait 2 days, the heat is supposed to break here in NYC. To the mid 80's anyway. If you don't think you can wait, than spray. And prune. I sprayed the evening of the 4th. It wasn't much cooler. |

Thanks for the reply. I should have done it last night but I was to worried because of todays forecast.I think i will do it this evening ,I am not sure if I should wait any longer.I see pests of all types showing up and the leave spots are definitely reproducing quicker due to the humidity. I have been pruning all along. The stress on the plants and the various problems going on have caused blossom drop as well.I just hope with the cooler temps for next week ,I can at least get some fruit to form.Next year,I am growing from seeds and making sure my soil is really prepared. This is such a battle.I never had these problems until 2 or 3 years ago ( it started with late blight that formed on plants i bought at home depot),now it seems like no matter what I do ,I am fighting a losing battle.
