Default What type of bug 'nest' is this?? Hmmm...

Daughter saw this on our Parsley. Any ideas??

Looks like a little clay pot! lol

Looks like something one of those mud wasps would make.

Greg

Sorry for my big hand in the way!! lol

looks like a mud dobbler, although I've only ever seen them on door/window frames. Can't wait to see what others say.

My guess would be an organ-pipe mud dauber, a sphecid wasp species. They're solitary wasps and don't defend their nests like hornets or yellow jackets, so you should consider them your friends. The organ-pipe variety is all black.

I get mud wasps in the garage, what a mess cleaning up after them is lol...at least outdoors you don't have to sweep!
