tomato seed.

I've been saving seed to the tune of about 250,000 so far and have another round to do today that should add another 250,000. I have plenty of some and not enough of others. In the plenty group are Eva Purple Ball and Red Brandywine. In the need more group are Kellogg's Breakfast and Aunt Gertie's Gold.

I have about 45 varieties saved so far out of about 120 varieties grown.

Pleasant surprises include Orangina which was supposed to be Argentina 2 years ago but yielded a delicious bright orange blocky fruit. I'm going to make this one available next year just because its such a good and productive variety. It outproduces all other orange varieties I have grown on a poundage basis and with excellent flavor. Another good one has been Dr. Carolyn Pink variant which is a larger than cherry sized tomato with a distinct indention at the blossom end scar. Flavor is up in the top 3 varieties I've grown. Its a very balanced flavor.

Wow, that's awesome! 1/3 down, 2/3's to go! The Orangina sounds good, I'll be looking for your offer.

You don't indicate what zone you are in - how long have you had ripe fruit? I haven't saved any seed yet, as I am just starting to get some ripe ones from about a dozen (out of 85) varieties.

How do you estimate the number of seed that you have saved? How did you figure out that you have saved about 250,000 so far?

Great to see you posting here, I've missed you! Your Borgo Cellanos have been everything you touted them to be. I have to agree with you, despite being a determinate plant, it really has produced well and the flavour of the dried product surpasses Principe Borghese and I did like that one. So thank you! It's a definate keeper!
