Default My First 2012 tomato!

I decided to pick this first tomato today before the birdies discover it. This is the first time I've grown Gigantesque. It has set dozens of tomatoes, but I haven't had the pleasure of tasting one yet.

I think it should be ready in a day or two.

Gorgeous! Enjoy!

Mine are trickling in now. One yesterday, two today.

Let us know how Gigantesque tastes!

Well, my favorite way to eat tomatoes is this: thick slices of tomato and mozzarella with mayo inside a half of pita bread and toasted in the toaster oven until the cheese just starts to melt. YUMMMMMMMMMM!!!

And I agree with you, it's good to pick those first ones a bit on the early side of ripe. You can begin to enjoy them, and each one you pick helps the remaining ones grow.
I'm a bit warmer here in SEMI...I gave some of my seedlings to my dad for his garden up on Mullett Lake and I don't think he's got any ripe yet.

I just discovered one of my Pantano Romanescos is starting to turn...let the tomato season begin!!!
