Default Soft tomatoes

Hey, I'm finding as my tomatoes ripen they seem too soft for the stage they're at? Help!

Interesting to see this post. I'm finding a lot of my varieties this year are quite soft by the time they are ripe. I was wondering if it had to do with the heat or drought. No idea why.

i saw the thick skins thread and i thought the farmers market tomatoes i was buying were thick skinned. now that i'm getting my own they seems to be very soft and juicy. its much better than those tough thick skinned tomatoes i've been stuck buying.

after seeing the "help" end your post i dont think my tomatoes are the level of soft as yours seem to be. have you done anything differently than in the past? how do you water?

Well it's been excessively hot and my tomatoes are in containers, so I've been watering almost everyday. I'm careful not to overwater. My cherry toms are fine it's the Better Boys and the Japanese black trifele. But I've only picked a few, so maybe it's the first few?

I've found sometimes the first few tomatoes on some varieties can be a bit mealy, and maybe that's what you are getting?

I was involved in the Thick Skinned thread.
I had the Gigantique which was a thick skinned tomato but then went and picked a Stump of the World the next day which was actually oozing as I picked it off the vine.
It was as soft as could be.

Guess we are seeing quite a range of things this year.

I think it's possible that the first few are mealy. I find that's been the case and the weather is so hot and dry that's it's a challenge between watering properly and fertilizing or not!!!
