Default Bountiful Cherry

If I wanted to plant 2 cherry tomatoes next year that would give me so many darn cherry tomatoes that it looked like a home invasion, what variety would that be?

Yeah, my Matt's Wild Cherry is certainly living up to its name. Can't imagine planting two in an Earthtainer.

I am very impressed with the Flortis Cherry. This is first year growing it and it was a monster and loaded constantly with large, good tasting cherries. Next year it is the only cherry I will plant other than my own Carbon Copy Cherry that has also been awesome and unbelievably productive.

ron

Not a general offer yet but Cecil can PM me for seeds for Carbon Copy if he chooses and wants to try them. I should have about 500 seeds by October if anyone else might like to try them. I will post again when they are ready.

Ron, agree with you about Marko's Flortis cherry - it was the first to set fruit and ripen for me. Beat Sun Gold by almost 2 weeks. Very prolific as well. I must go back and re-read your post regarding Carbon Copy - can't remember if the taste was like Carbon. If so, it must be spectacular, Carbon being one of my favourites (thanks again, Remy!).

I agree on Black Cherry and Sungold F1. This year though I've found the Sungold not to be as crazily productive as it usually is. The Black Cherry though has been highly productive.

I would also like to add to the list a new one I tried this year, HoneyDrop Cherry. I saved seeds from a carton I bought at a farmer's market from an organic farmer, who told me the variety was an o.p. The seeds yielded two different shaped tomatoes with similar delicious nectary taste, a large round one and a grape. (In a separate thread on Tomatoville, someone responded to me that the developer of HoneyDrop noted that some of the seeds were throwing the grape shape, and that it was supposed to be the big round style. We like them both, and they are producing at a high level. So I'm going to save seeds from both types to see what happens.

Hmmm Kurt,
I think I know of a certain plant swap that might have some interest in those!

my sungold f1 was a very early cherry. it produced like gang busters for 2 months has all but shut down. the plants i have in 15 gallon containers are pretty much done while the one in raised bed is still producing but not like crazy.

i might add this was my first year growing sungolds and was new to me, my family and friends. everyone stressed i should never be without sungold and some even requested seedlings when i mentioned i started them from seed.

if i could grow only 2 i would do sungold f1 and my other variety would be something known for producing well late into the season......not sure what that would be though

Black Cherry and Dr. Carolyn. Stunning in a bowl together and good flavors.
