Default Next year's possibilities, thanks Carolyn!

So Carolyn, just to follow up, here's what I have ordered from Tatiana to date:

Black from Tula
Aunt Gerties Gold
Kellogg's Breakfast
Druzba
Red Penna
Orange Strawberry
Iditarod Red
Anna Russian
Gold Nugget
Brandywine Sudduth(altho I'm not sure why I ordered this one)
Black Russian
Bloody Butcher

and from another source, Cuore di Bue and Cuore di Toro.

Now I'm looking at the dwarfs coming out, eek! So many choices!
Thank you so much.

Well the two Italian heirlooms, Cuore Di bur and Di toro are oxhearts, which I have never grown and they are supposed to be fantastic.Iditarod Red is a dwarf and I'm also interested in getting into the dwarfs. Might even consider being a volunteer.

i have thought about the volunteer as well. just not experienced enough and i dont have enough space to be counted on for future seed.

i have already purchased some seed from the dwarf project and will be growing some on the southern most portion of garden and some in pots 6 gallon and up. very excited to say the least and i'm still a ways away from starting seed

Sharon,

You've got some very nice possibilities there, that's for sure! These are very nice tomatoes.

Thank you so much for ordering the seeds, it is so great to have another Canadian as a customer!

Tatiana, most of my choices were thanks to Carolyn and also availability from you and it pleases me no end to order from a Canadian company and you certainly know your stuff! So anytime, that's for sure. Hope I haven't bitten off more than I can chew, so to speak, ha ha!

and from another source, Cuore di Bue and Cuore di Toro.

****

Sharon, I wanted to speak to the two above but have an electrical problem here at home right now and am waiting to hear back from the electrition so will try to be quick about this.

In a nutshell Bue ( usually written as Bui) means bull in Italian and Toro means bull in Spanish, and the prefixes Curore and Cuor are mixed up all the time , one being from Spain, the other from Italy, and some describe both as red, some describe both as pink, some describe one as pink and the others as red, and so there you go.

So both mean heart of the bull and then there's the variety Bullsheart, and on and on it goes.

I was delighted when Andrey sent me seeds for Serdtse Buivola b'c that translates out to Heart of the Buffalo. First buffalo one I'd heard of.

There's a long thread here somewhere about the different ones sourced from Europe such as Albenga and friends.

So see what you get from those two next year and let us know if you saw any differences at all with respect to fruit color and all else.

Hi Carolyn, thanks. As always, you are a wealth of information. I received my seeds from Tatiana and still waiting for the two oxhearts. I certainly will keep everyone informed of whatever I learn. Who knows what next year will be like. I appreciated your explanation of Tigerella vis a vs Mr. Stripey. From your description I'm sure I'm growing Tigerella. I must say, my initial opinion has changed. These last fruits are better tasting and not cracking, mind you we haven't had rain. Weather has cooled today, so I'm interested to see how the Gold Medals will do. I'm now topping them as I doubt they can produce anything that will ripen at this stage. I'm looking at around 12 or so per plant.

Great

However I was hoping it'd take them less time to get there... Canada Post is still slow at times, they almost never deliver as fast as they promise. Oh well. I should probably stop complaining about that...

Sharon, above is a link to Tomato Bob's from the seed and plant Forum here. Please read it carefully and note especially post #20 and the reference to the Garden Watchdog.

It's not a place I would reccomend to anyone and I think you'll see why when you read the link. There's an individual list of seed places that Mischka has given in a thread there and then individual threads for many seed sites as well.

Tania, will I'm sure answer you about special instructions for seeds , I think you meant for sowing seeds, and if so, I make no distinction at all and sow my seeds the same way regardless of variety. If you meant something differently than jsut sowing seed please share what those might be.

And if you feel you need a good FAQ about sowing seeds I can fetch one that several of us wrote when we doing the new FAQ's at GW.

But you've grown tomatoes from seed before, so............

HI Carolyn, I only wish I had known. The thing is, when I googled the 2 Italian tomatoes, this site popped up, there was no name and (I should have been wary), only once I placed the order thru PayPal and they sent the confirmation, did I know that it was from Tomato Bob. When I went back to figure out how I even got to that site, it took me awhile, so it's weird...
If I don't get the seeds by next week, I am going to call, email, harass, whatever. It's a lesson learned, that's for sure.
Regarding special instructions, I should have been more clear - I meant in terms of storage. I assume sowing them will be like I have done before. It's so exciting....
Thanks Carolyn. I'm starting to think I may not get the seeds without a battle.

Sharon, I think the best thing to do is to go to Tania's website first to see who might be offering any varieties you want to grow. She does not list some seed sites b'c of known problems and I doubt she'd list TomatoBob, although I didn't check to confirm that.

There are MANY great seed sites that do NOT have a Google listing,so that's another bit of info to tuck away and remember.

Sharon, I hope you will get your seeds from TomatoBob OK and without stress. I am keeping my fingers crossed for you. Worst case, I will have Cuor Di Bue seeds later in the fall to offer.

Carolyn, you are correct in your assumption, I do not list TomatoBob. I have to confess that I am a bit behind updating the vendor listings for 2012 - I am still stuck on Sandhill. It is a lot of work, and I am not catching up at this time of the year.

Here is the link to the list of some other vendors that are listed at Tatiana's TOMATObase: http://tatianastomatobase.com/wiki/C...ercial_Vendors
