Pink Vernissage
My plant was labeled Pink Vernissage (it was a plant-sale leftover I got for free!), but it's also known as Vernissage Pink and by its Russian name.
http://t.tatianastomatobase.com/wiki/Vernisazh_Rozovyi The ping pong size fruit is pretty and has a good flavor, but so prolific that I can't keep up with them. I'd been using them for fresh salsa, and a couple days ago I decided to dry them (cut in half). As a dried tomato, they are magnificent. They taste like a rich pizza sauce. Someone else who tried them asked what else I put on them. The plant is still healthy and productive. The photo shows a couple fruit still attached to the plant. I let them get pinker all over (the color at the base of the fruit on the left) before I eat them. |

The pink ones and the yellow ones are both just beautiful.
It's a pretty bad year here for tomatoes, so I'm having no trouble keeping up with them. A decent harvest, but not really outstanding. I'll give them another try, probably next year. |
