What was it???
Last week at the health store (Sprouts) I bought two small yellow tomatoes simply becasuse I've never tasted one.
I couldn't believe how good they were ! Tasted like a good strong tangy beefsteak. The problem: No labels, no I.D. Maybe if I describe them someone may know what they are? And I didn't even THINK to save the seeds. Oh, geez. Anyway, they were small and perfectly round, about 2 1/2 in diameter, and taxi cab yellow, not gold. They were still on the stems. |

I would call the store and speak to the produce manager and find out what he or she ordered for the store.

There is a variety interestingly called "taxi" small, round and bright yellow. you could google it as it sounds just like what you describe although there are so many varieties it could be that you will likely never know for certain wihout asking whoever grew it.

Great idea about calling the store, I hadn't thought of that.
I Googled, it does look like a Taxi but they're always described as sweet. The ones I bought weren't sweet at all. None of the other yellows looked like what I bought. |

Does the store have a main warehouse to stock and then move goods to each designated location? Perhaps they would know what they stocked.

Bummer, I have experienced the same as you looking for something because I liked it and couldn't find it. I hope you figure this out because I am intrigued.

Thanks. I think it was a Taxi, it was identical. Taxi is described as sweet though. Maybe I just have beefsteak taste buds !
I'm definitely going to grow Taxi to see if it's my mystery tomato. |

One suggestion. When you grow Taxi, pick a couple when they just show color, and allow them to finish ripening off the vine to see if that duplicates the taste you found. The sugar of the vine ripened ones may mask the other flavors. Claud
