Jeff,
I'm really interested in the replies you get to your question. I've never used anything like actinovate or similar products. To be honest, I don't even know what they are supposed to accomplish in the garden. I always try to make sure my garden soil is rich in nutrients with a lot of organics in the soil. It seems to be all I need because my plant growth and fruit production is high each year. I do usually add a little Ironite to my beds to correct any mineral deficiencies as a preventative rather than as a cure. I also grow in some containers, but I don't change my container soil much from my bed soil recipe. I suppose I do include more organics in my containers for moisture retention, but I read about people using fish based fertilizers and just about everything you can imagine in their containers and I don't understand why they do. I hope you get a lot of answers so I can learn a little. Ted |

Ted
these products are used mostly as disease prevention. im no expert on the subject but from what i understand the actinovate is a beneficial strain of bacteria(biological fungicide) used to fight off disease while the exel lg is a systemic fungicide i believe them both to be organic so one would use in place of chemicals to ward off disease, specifically fungal. i've also read of the possible use of actinovate for bacterial diseases as well but more research needed to be done. now that its been around for a while and definitely talked about more and more frequently there should be plenty of people who have seen results, be it good or bad.

Jeff,
I assume you have read some or all of Ami's posts on them? I used them both last year, liked them, and will be doing so again this year. Alternated weekly with Serenade as a spraying regimen. |
