Chef Jeff Products
Is anyone familiar with this line of plants or where to obtain them?
Thanks

Oops, Paul. I suspect TightenUp might know. I just looked at his member page.

I am very familiar with Chef Jeff's line. My local garden center (Stein's Garden and Gifts) carries them. They do have a website. You can find it and ask them where to purchase the plants locally or perhaps they will sell them to you.

Ace Hardware chain sells them in my area. They have a very good variety, aren't too expensive (around $2.99 for a 4" pot) compared to private garden centers. Fancy pot that I save for my seed starting and label too. I admit to picking thru them every year and seldom walk away empty handed. Nothing magic about the plants themselves IMHO.

I grew their yellow cherry two years ago, and it was just fine.

Why he doesn't identify any of his many F1 hybrid varieties accordingly is beyond me. Novice growers who may want to save seed will be in for a big disappointment next season.

Their line of veggies are a step above the rest. I always purchase numerous Chef Jeff vegetable plants every year. My brother's name was Jeff so I am partial but over the years the quality has spoken for itself.

I find Chef Jeff plants at my local grocery store. I picked up a few plants on a whim last year including Bradley and Chello. They both performed well and were healthy plants. If you don't grow from seed, I think they are a great option with a reasonable selection.

I find Chef Jeff plants are sold all over the Detroit metro area. The big box store sell them, even the little mom and pop nurseries that sell on vacant lots sell them. Nice healthy plants. If I did not grow my own from seed I would buy these husky looking very green plants.

I have seen them in nurseries in a couple of different locations in and around Nashville ,TN . Good selection of heirlooms and plants looked healthy.

His recipe for Squished Squash Espresso has me intrigued. I have an acorn squash sitting in my pantry and I'm thinking I might give it a try this weekend.
I don't recall ever seeing his plants anywhere up this way, but then I'm growing completely from seeds so I often don't pay attention to seedlings in stores. But I agree -- he should label the hybrids as such. |
