I wouldn't waste a penny of my money (or a second of my time) buying those seeds from the world-record biggest sleazebag that sells them.

he's not the only one who sells them- you can also purchase direct from the grower at puckerbutt pepper co (yeah- awful name)

My brother in law in Pa is a fireman(volunteer) and his and a couple of other local volunteer fire departments have thier own little gardens that grow for hot pepper braggin rights every year.He said they tried the H22HP or reaper from both of the "official"vendors Puckerbutt and Pepper Joes.They all got different results in plant size.colors(pods) and he said the "heat "is nowhere near thier expectations.They emailed the vendors as to get the verification of Scoville units,the verification of the supposed Guiness World Record holder for "hottest pepper in the world designation".To date no verification at all.Needless to say all the fireman feel they got ripped off at more than a dallor a seed.All they got was excuses for not growing them correctly and replacement of seed promises which they do not want since the vendors can't even produce the lineage of the plants origin.All the other seed sites(pepper forums) seem to shy away from any discussion about this "new world record holder pepper".

i agree that all the hype has not amounted to much...a lot of promises of documentation prior to the selling of the seed and nada after it was sold.

i am curious though how they grew out the reaper last year when seed wasn't commercially available until labor day...

It is too hot for my taste, but any way, interesting to see if someone really has it growing and how are you planning to use it?

there's a new claimant to the throne... "fatalii gourmet jigsaw"- bred by one of the world's most reputable pepper growers- seed currently unavailable.

most of my at home usage of superhot peppers is either in making hot sauces or in powdered form. i grow them for market mostly.

Someone gave me the seeds. I did not purchase them from pepperjoe.

That's good.

If they grow out crossed you won't be out any money and if they grow close to or equal as hyped, you'll be able to enjoy them.

I enjoy hot peppers but they wreak havoc on my stomach, so I limit myself to the mildly hot varieties. Cherry peppers stuffed with prosciutto are my weakness and I can eat an entire jar if I don't watch myself.

Now I'm hungry!

I'll admit that I did buy my seed from that source but it was prior to reading the thread here on Tomatoville. Never again.
