Storm damage, Z6, staking system true test.

Tropical Storm Ernesto passed thru NY area. Trees were down, electric power outage to 90,000 family and businesses. 40,000 customers are still out today (3 days already)

My power is still out. I am writing this on my backup power generator.

I had post before of a "NO stakes" 10 foot tall staking system for my tomato plants, I am happy to report that NO DAMAGE at all, everything intack. The system survived a very damaging storm!. Some branches were bent out of shape. Some tomatoes got knocked off the vines. I will post some pictures again of my system after power returns.

I hope other in the area managed. Like to hear from them if they got electric power.

2 tomato cages blown over (of course the tallest plants) - I set them back up straight - we'll see
what happens ~
Tomatoes ? Knocked off plants and lying everywhere !!!
Looks like I'm gonna have to make marinara ~

Sounds like no real property damage and you both are OK. Glad you made it through relatively unscathed

WOW, ya'll were took a much harder hit than we did here in Va Beach. Other than a few dead limbs knocked out of the sycamore and maple trees, and a newly discovered "roof problem" (leak in entry hall) we were relatively unscathed compared to 3 years ago when Isabel blew through. The 12+ inches of rain has done a real number on the garden though. With the exception of KBX, Green Giant, Cherokee Purple and Bulgarian #7, most everything is either gone or is starting to go down fast. Time to ponder the fall crops and how to cover the beds I need to solarize next season.

Glad to hear that you all made it thru Ernesto thats one of the reasons i left Florida. Anyways dcarch i can't wait to see your pics of your 10' tall staking system i'm looking at different ways to tie'em up is it a perminate system?
