Default SSE Emmy

Just received a packet from SSE in the mail. Feels like Christmas anytime i get tomato seeds in the mail. I am excited to grow it (& save seeds eventually) and wondered if anyone else has grown it before and what are your thoughts on it. Production, Taste and so forth. I also enjoy reading the history of the variety. Pretty Cool.

Delerium, I see that Emmy is yet another one that SSE is offering from their collection, and I can share with you that several of us old time SSE members, I joined in 1989 have no access to the SSE seed bank at all. I suppose the thinkihng was by doing that that mofre mopeny will come in for varoeteos that no one has for the vdery freason that they are in the SSE collectkion andonly by buying those seeds can tghey be had, while denyhing access to them from current SSE members.

For many years they used to send to those of us who listed new varieties, enclosed cash and asked for seeds back saying that there would be back up to Decorah with seeds stored in Fort Collins at the USDA station.

I know I sent the seeds and also sent the money back, but then seeds were sent to Svalbard, I had problems with that, but let us not discuss it here b'c it's already been discussed, b'c the seeds were not OWNed by SSE to do so and no one asked the orignal doner if they approved.

So do grow out those Emmy seeds and let us know how you liked that variety and if you save enough seeds this summer maybe you can make a seed offer here, your choice.,

Carolyn, who sounds like she's not in tune with the SSE of today, and that's true, since the goal and mission has changed over the years as she sees it.

I'm planning on growing Emmy this year. I'm curious to hear comments about it as well. I really like the color in the picture of it.

Alright Thanks for all the Info Carolyn137. I will either build a separate raised bed or swc away from my other tomatoes and save some seeds to offer tomatoville if desired by members. Douglas14 if you want i can do a photo journal here on Tomatoville of the Emmy Growout. I will plant some of these seeds in some DE and get started today.
