Default perlite mix??

i will be using a 5gal bucket-plenty of holes-some rocks, and 4 or so gal ocean forest mix and 4qt of perlite. do i put the perlite in the bottom or mix it in the ocean forest? this will be for a tomato-i have never used perlite before. tks
