Ask that question of 10 Tomatovillians and you will likely get 11 different answers.
I guess for myself, I'd vote for Sunsugar.

the sources i've used for these seeds. if you're looking for plants and not seeds you may find sungold but i doubt you'll find momotaro
momotaro http://www.kitazawaseed.com/seed_111-125.html sungold f1 http://www.sampleseeds.com/

i think burpee sells sungold plants.
i'm sure there is a member here who sells plants and can ship you sungold and maybe they have a nice sweet beefsteak as well. maybe start a new thread asking just that

Have you checked out the well known above nursery which can't be too far from you since you say you're in Hicksville, but they are actually in Westbury. And if they know their tomato varieties well staff might be able to make suggestions to you of varieties other than Sungold F1 or Momotrao F1. As was posted above, the problem is that what I might find to be a sweet tasting variety you wouldn't. Just too many variables that go into growing tomatoes. Which is why I didn't make suggestions in this thread. Carolyn

A bit off topic, but oh my goodness! What a nice Nursery! Wish we had one like that here.

Home Depot and probably Lowes sells Sungold. They are usually the first ones to go.

Sungold (a cherry) would likely be available at many nurseries. My recommendation for a larger tomato would be to ask for a pink beefsteak type.

And asked me if I'd been there, but until I can remember which thread it was I'll just say here that Hick's Nursery invited me to do a couple of dog and pony shows on heirloom tomatoes. It never came to be and I can't remember why that was so. And Elliot, let me repeat here what I said in that other post, Hicks knows NOW what seedlings they'll be getting in either from them growing them or them subcontracting out. You can ask which varieties NOW so you know what the offerings will be, but of course you can't order in advance. Eva Purple Ball is quite sweet and as someone said somewhere most large pink beefsteak ones are as well. Carolyn

Its a toss-up between Super Sweet 100 or Sungold for me but Black Cherry is sill my favorite for its unique taste.
All are readily available at most nurseries or big box stores. |

talk about conditions and taste buds playing a part. i grew sweet 100 and super sweet 100's and i thought they were very similar to each other, but nothing like sungold. sungold was sweet and sugary while the other 2 were more balanced and sweet wouldnt be used to describe them. i also agree that black cherry has a unique taste. unlike you however i dont like i at all . i must say though black cherry produced the most cherries i've ever seen on a plant last season. it was grown in my brother in laws garden and he loved it
