How to log in
I know this is a really stupid question.
I cleaned out my cache, which destroyed all my links to TV. On the page that came up, there was no obvious way to log in for members. Can anyone explain how to do this easily? I spent ages trying to find a log in, and eventually went in as a new member. There has to be an easier way.... Linda |

I think if you just try to reply to a message or try to access one of the "restricted to members" sections you'll get a pop up prompt to log in. At least that's what happens to me.

Why would you think it's a stupid question?
I don't know what a cache is, nor how to clean one. Dr. Lve Apple |

Two weeks ago my browser demanded an update and formatting was very different from before. But, I lost access to all the other places I visit since both my username and passwords also went with the wind. I keep a list of my username and passwords in a very special place and was able to get back to Tville ASAP b'c when I opened it I was asked to register, and could and did. But at one place my user name was OK but my password was no longer usable, so I had to go to the Contact US at the bottom of the page, they also use Vbul software as does Tville and ask about it. I was sent a new password and that didn't work either. Asked again and they have a rather baroque, IMO, way of folks getting back on and when told what to do, I did it. I think it was almost the same as what Dee mentioned now that I think about it. But why my password was defunct I cannot explain since my passwords at other places were fine. Oh well, as is oft said. NYTimes.com bob55 greylady1999. That way, even if I clear, or lose, everything in my browser settings, I can reestablish my login to that site. I don't think that this exposes me to any greater risk, especially if my passwords also contain additional characters (like 1-2-3). It has helped me several times in the past when I needed to recover passwords. I also try to email user name and passwords to myself so that I can access sites when I am away from my home or work PCs. Jim |

Something you get from a tree. Something you do to get on this site. Something a ships captain keeps. Now wonder the American English language is so hard to learn. Worth |

One of the problems is some words are direct from the language they came from.
Such as a flume. This is an artificial canal that they float logs on. In German it is called a flume. In Italian it is called a canale artificiale. Now if you were a modern person with no idea about logging and the terms they used which one would you understand. The German word or the Italian word. Then some words just stay the same wherever they go. Pasta is a prime example. Strozzapreti translates to strangle priest or choke priest. Now in Italy they have no problem with these wild names for pasta. In the USA if you were in a restaurant would you order worms, little beards, ears. butterfly's, strings or priest chokers? I doubt it. Worth |
