Default plant breeding via dna sleuthing

Interesting article on breeding new varieties by comparing DNA sequences of plants that have and don't have the desired characteristics.

Good stuff Habitat Gardener. I've long thought that genetic sequencing was the way to go with plant breeding. It has been so expensive though. Maybe in the not too distant future we will be able to snip a leave, send it to a lab and find out if it is REALLY black cherry or just another contaminated seed batch.

Now I'm off to google where I can find me some Habanado seeds.
