Doing the Happy Dance!
Yes its true, more thunder snow today and another 10" added to the ginormous piles of white stuff already oout there. We had complete white out today for about 30 minutes when it was coming down at about 3" per hour. Yes, it is also true that ground is now reported to be frozen down to 14" and the ice on the pond is 8".
I am not angry about more snow. I'm doing the happy dance because: Tomorrow it is going to be ABOVE FREEZING by 6 whole degrees which is the first time this has happened in months and Thursday...Thursday it is going to be 43 and raining! Yippee yahooey the stuff is gonna start melting!!!! I am so bleeping excited it will be hard not to run around in shorts and t-shirt stomping in slush with glee on Thursday. However I will contain myself and instead celebrate by planting onion flats...well and maybe just stomping in one slush blob...or two. Stacy |

HA HA HA HA HA, I sure needed a good laugh. And I DO know what you mean; our snow went away a week ago, now we just have wind and rain. Blowtorch dance, that could be interesting.....

Stacy,
It sounds like you live in my general neck of the woods as you described our weather today to a T. And our forecast too. And my feelings about this seeming never ending winter. I sure hope we do see the above freezing temps and some rain to start getting rid of all this snow. Carol |

Some of you posters seem to be totally ignorant of the fact that we are experiencing global
warming. |

76 in Big D. Enjoyed fun in the sun with the kids while wearing shorts and a t-shirt. 70s for a week in February isn't "normal" but sure is enjoyable!

I'm not, according to many knowledgeable people the reason for the cold weather this year is due to the melted ice caps. I dont subscribe to groups with agendas, I look for real data. Sometimes this is hard to find. I just dont want some rich Hollywood jerk tell me to get and electric car while they fly around in a Boeing 737 900. The way things are going now we wont be able to tell from one year to the next what to do with our gardens. Worth |

Do the Redbuds flower when it's planting time? I have a small Redbud that I'm nurturing as someone told me they are hardy in Ontario .
What do the oak trees do? We have a couple of those on the property. It's gorgeous here in NC today and I let the dogs off the leash to have some fun. Did they ever! Running through a deep ditch full of water, getting wet, and gathering even more speed for the next game of chase, then back through the ditch again...... Linda |

We have or own Redbud it is called the, of all things the Texas Redbud. You more than likely have the eastern Redbud. We actuality have both here but the Texas Redbud is more forgiving in this climate. I have yet to see any really cold weather after the oaks and Redbuds start to grow. The oaks bud out and start to turn green and the Redbuds bloom. Also many other native plants start to grow.(Not winter weeds). That's just the way it is here where I live maybe not in other parts of the state. Also you cant depend on various fruit trees and other introduced plants as the a little warm weather will fool them into blooming. Right now the only thing (other than weeds)I have that is trying to grow is Hydrangea and fig. I also have a volunteer carrot that is getting to mammoth proportions, it self seeded last fall. One other thing that is a sign of spring is you start to see really rich snobby people on Harley Davidsons running around. Us poor folks run around all year.
