Moved seedling trays outdoors
Hi! First post here. I've moved my seedling trays outdoors on the deck out of direct sunlight - don't want them to cook in the Florida sun. Temps are staying in the 70s and actually hit 80 today. My concern is how cool is too cool for overnight? Our lows seem to be staying above 50 degrees lately but we are expecting a couple of nights with low 40s later this week.

When it hits low thirties then I would protect them. Forties no problem.
Welcome.

If it is going to be 36 at night I dont give a flip. To answer the question I would have already had them out but out of any hard wind. Wind does more harm than cool weather. Worth |

Thanks folks. Was thinking the same but wanted to get some verification. I did bring them in tonight already though. They are really young and I'm not taking any chances. Will probably leave them out after this except for those 40s nights - just in case it slips below. They are pretty spindly right now and need that indirect sun and very light breeze to toughen them up. Last year I made the mistake of getting my plants in the ground too early and we had freeze after freeze - very unseasonable for west central Florida in late Feb through till April. Lost a lot of plants and had to start over several times. Some I just had to go out and buy because it was too late to start them over - again!! So I'm keeping them in those fiber pots I can take inside if need be until I can put them in containers and be reasonably sure there won't be any freezes. Oh, I got hit by nematodes last year as well - so switching to containers this year.
