March 24, A day that will live in my memory

I picked my first tomato today. A few days of HOT weather pushed up the ripening. Okay, it was an Early Girl, but it was beautiful! I say was, because in a few minutes it is going straight in my long awaited first tomato sandwich. Life CAN be very, very good!

Darn stroke! This is May, isn't it. Okay, planted March 27, harvested May24. ummm...ummm..tastes good! mighty GOOD! Maybe not the taste of later tomatoes to come, but light years better than those from the grocery.

Lucky you! I planted a Stupice this year to get some early tomatoes. I have one low hanging green fruit that looks like it hasn't grown in a couple weeks, but it isn't showing any signs of blushing yet. It just sits there and laughs at me every time I go out to look at its progress.

Here in Portland we just barely got ours in the ground! I start my seeds in late March and plant out in mid to late May, depending on the forecast. My Bloody Butcher is the only plant with flowers.

I could never live in a hot and humid climate so I don't mind eating my home canned tomatoes and marinara until the fresh ones arrive.

So jealous of you! Maria (my partner) will be moving into her new place at the end of June. Probably too late in the year for mators. Next year though!!

Here in Southern Colorado, we are just getting buds to open on our Early Girls...I'm envious also!

Congrats on the first tomato! I'm hoping the Stupice will grow really well and really fast so I can get a nice first tomato. The rest are just now going in the ground and still expanding the garden area for more.

Each of you have such incredible beauty and gifts where you are. I was amazed in Colorado to witness a herd Elk in the front yard, in Oregon the forests were awesome, in Maryland there were crab cakes made with the lightness of saltines and fried in rich butter that I have never tasted anything even remotely close to since, drove up the highway that lines the California coast all the way to Point Reyes, Despite my love of the south, my half NY/Mass side HATES the heat, humidity and smog. Yes that tomato WAS great, but last night it was in the mid 80s in the bedroom. I'm not about to turn on the AC yet! GOD bless you all.

The Nor Cal coast is amazing. So is the Oregon coastline. Love the beaches.

I should have waited a couple days to reply. This morning I noticed 2 tomatoes blushing. They're supposed to be Yellow Submarine, but they look like they're turning red.

I've had my suspicions about this plant because the tomatoes on it are not pear shape and bigger than a cherry. We'll see what I get when they're fully ripe.
