Basinga- True to form???
I am curious if anyone who has grown out Basinga had it produce quite a few globe shaped fruits. My fruits were also quite small but then again Manyel (globe) which grew on one side and Sutton(oblate) on the other all produced smaller fruits. The fruits that basinga did produce were pure yellow- see pict.

the color seems to be correct... what is the weight range? In the Carolyn's book, the fruits are described as 6 oz to 1 lb, and the picture in the book shows them to be more flattened and no ribbing. I haven't grown it yet, so can't speak from my experience.
Jeff, where were your seeds from? And how was the taste?

From the time I got the original seeds from Joe Bratka ( note this was not one he bred) every time I grew it I got beefsteak fruits only, as shown in the picture in my book. Never globes.
And yes, it is one of the few that does stay clear yellow at maturity. I think it's best liked by those who prefer a mild tasting clear yellow variety. I'm not one of thsoe folks, but I thought it worthy of being included in the book b'c there are so few clear yellows at maturity.
