Default Arthur!

So while we won't come anywhere close to a direct hit, our forecast even this far inland is calling for multiple inches of rain and winds up to 30mph between today and tomorrow. I spent several hours out in the 90 degree heat and humidity yesterday pruning what needed to be pruned, tying what needed tying, and reinforcing a couple of stakes that were showing a bit too much lean. Now we wait and see.

Here's hoping that anyone living and gardening closer to the storms path makes it through unscathed!

Quite a bit of rain falling for hours here in southern NJ.

Plants well tied to stakes, but fear beginning to build concerning cracking of
fruit ! Fingers crossed .

I am 60 miles east of my house at my folks place on the North Fork of Long Island. Getting pounded by rain since late morning. Wind is not bad at all though, and supposed to just be a glancing hit. Should blow out of here and head north by around 8 or 9.
Don't think we are going to see too many fireworks tonight.

NYC and Long Island already got drenched the last few nights with multiple fronts moving through.
Saw some crazy lightning.

I hope anyone in it's path is okay and that there isn't too much damage! Keeping my fingers crossed for everyone!

We just bought a house one hour west of Wilmington,NC. We move at the end of the week. Just hoping it didn't sustain any damage from the high winds and heavy rain. Everybody, stay safe and good luck!
We move on the 12th and it will take 5 days. 2500 miles, two u-hauls, a dually/horse trailer, one horse, two dogs and three cats. Haven't figured out how to get the little "bantam" trailer out there. We may end up shipping it. It's a 1940s antique and we drove 700 miles each way to pick it up. I know we won't leave it behind as we use it all the time.
We purchased 21 acres, mostly woods and a gigantic house. 3 acre bass pond! A gushing spring that I need to tap and use for something. My only problem is finding enough sunny spots for garden, orchard and horse pasture. I have two broodmares in TX that will come later. I will also need to build a barn and fence the property.

Looks like it's going to pass well to the west of us here, after all. It's been gusting 40+ mph here for the last three days and very hot and humid...
It gives me a bad feeling about this season though, Arthur being the first of all - pretty early to be knocking on the doors of the East coast, already.

Tracydr, that sounds like an epic adventure ahead. That property sounds idyllic. Hope all goes well for you.

We were in the Outer Banks until Thursday morning. We had planned to come home that day anyway but it was perfect timing. Came back to Va Beach and spent the rest of the day in the pool and put some things away to keep them safe from the wind. I woke up to a lot of wind and some rain yesterday and the power kept going in and out but shortly thereafter Arthur left. The sun was back out by afternoon. Most Fourth of July events were moved to today. Our fireworks are fired off from a barge in the Chesapeake Bay and the water is still too rough for them to light them tonight. My sister's party is on for tonight just because she already had all the food but fireworks are delayed until the 12th. I guess we'll get to celebrate our independence twice in one week!

I spent the rainy morning yesterday making 8 pints of pickles, drying tomatoes and freezing squash. Thankfully the power stayed on! There were basketfuls of things to pick in the garden after being gone for almost a week.

I bet your not going to miss Hotazona one bit.
With the massive urban sprawl there I would go nuts.
Every time I go to Alaska I hear more people there are moving to Phoenix.

I try to get them to move to Arkansas I tell them it would be more to their liking.
