Default new light stand for seedlings

my husband and father-in-law built me the new 'grow-seedlings-under-light' closet in the laundry room; it has 6 shelves, and each shelf has 3 fluorescent light fixtures (48" long) that can be moved up and down.

I think I am all set and ready to go

Testing started quite successfully - I have a few little tomato seedlings growing happily under the lights

Looks a real nice set up Tania, I notice that you have got the little seat there ready-so that you can watch them grow-day by day.

thank you everybody for the kind comments.

I am indeed happy to have it, and already filled in the first row under 1 light fixture with tomato and arugula seedlings

I think my husband loves fresh garden greens and home grown tomatoes too much... perhaps more than he loves me?

Michael, this also serves as a ladder to climb up to reach to the top shelf, curtesy of my farther-in-law, who has done all the wood work (he is 81 years old...). My husband handled the electrical

I think they were trying to be nice to me and justify all the money they spent on the woodworking equipment...

Tania what a lovely set-up you have! Ah I see a lovely honey-do list should be made re lights and shelving and I must follow Tania's example of labeling.

p.s. I'm only green-eyed over the fact that you are *already* starting tomatoes!

My DH made a lovely light stand years ago but unfortunately it was forgotten when we moved.

...just to test the lights setup... I usually start some early and compact varieties on Jan 1...

Rena and everybody, if you are interested in getting a sample MS Word template for the tags, let me know, and I'll see what I can do to get these to you.

Welcome Wndsng225,

I think you'll like it here.

There are easy ways to put light setup together. A $40 potting table from Home Depot or a set of shelves from Ikea, Container Store, Sam's Club, wherever. Buy some hooks and screw them into underside of shelf and hook chains from shoplights onto hooks and as the plants grow move the shoplight up the chain. I've got that system and it works great.

You don't need any woodworking and depending how many shoplights you put up, the whole system is between $60 and $100.

Believe me, I put a mega amount plants out from a relatively small area in my bedroom. About 8 sq. ft. of floor space. I just wish I had a basement.

Tania, that is great looking setup.

Tania,

The setup is outstanding, and I'm stealing your idea about the tags. (I WILL change them extensively, but what a great idea!!!).
