Default Pepper sprouting tomato leaves

I have a pepper plant in a 5 gal container- Calif Wonder I think. After some water and heat stress this summer it is now sprouting tomato limbs and leaves. I know tomatoes and peppers are related but never knew they could morph like this. Any body know what is going on with this plant?
It is interesting and I plan to let it continue growing and see if it will produce a tomato fruit.

And what was in that container last year, and is the mix fresh this year, or not, and have you seen any low flying birds lately since they are notorius for spreading tomato seeds here and there. And even if fresh mix this yearb a bird could have dropped a tomato seed in the mix early on this year.

Carolyn, who has had strange items come up in her containers some years, tomato plants with cukes and squash , radishes amongst the lettuce, etc,but she doesn't have Freda, who now grows everything for her, change the mix each year.

Ignore this post! Embarrassed to say I must have had too much sweat in my eyes, yeah that's it.
There was a volunteer tomato wrapped around stem. No genetic mutant.

No need to be embarrased. We are all human.

Those low flying birds will get you every time as I posted above, unless you had previously grown tomatoes in that same container, which then accounts for the volunteer tomato.

No need to be embarraased, really, there's not one of us who hasn't had some weird things happen from time to time, and most don't even mention it, even when they found out the problems were solved.

I prepared a couple of large pots for our daughters house this spring. In each pot, I placed a Lime Green Salad tomato plant, radishes around the tomato plant, lettuce around the radishes; and onions around the outside edge of the pots. It would have been great if someone on this forum had seen the pots and asked how so many different plants were able to grow from the tomato plant.

All the veggies in the pots performed well. She harvested some more tomatoes yesterday. My LGS plants in my garden have been dead for a month.
