Default marconi like pepper

Hi to every one. I grew two pepper plants this year. Didn't have much time for any thing else due to work. Between the two plants, I harvested 22 peppers. They were in 5 gal buckets. Never would have gotten half as much, if they were bell peppers. Never had any luck with bell peppers. Will have to try some other peppers like these. Also what is the difference between the old big Jim and the newer version.

I'm growing Marconis, King of the North Bells, and Jimmy Nardellos frying pepper. Bells have their place I suppose, but I too like the Marconis' uprightness and the meat volume is there too. I couldn't do without the J Nards. Just too sweet when roasted.

Anacongugua peppers are big and very sweet like red bell peppers. They are very productive and much more reliable than bell peppers for me.

I grow a few Corno di Toro Giallo's (yellow bull's horn) each year, they are very productive, meaty, and make great stuffed peppers. Lipstick has become my favorite frying pepper.

Try growing Socrates bell pepper which I get from TGS and Declaration which is from Harris seeds. Both do very well but I would give the edge to Socrates. One further recommendation would be to plant at least 3 plants in different locations to assure some good production. Most of my bells produce but it is funny how much better one or two will do at different times and sometimes you get one that just doesn't produce much. I always grow some type of Marconi like peppers because of their dependable production but even these types will sometimes disappoint. I usually try to plant several different varieties to assure some good producers and if you have too many they are easy to give away.

The name of the pepper I am growing is Costa Rican Hybrid. My two plants have loaded up again. Lots of peppers on them. Will try some of the other ones mentioned next year.

I just ate my first Costa Rican today. It was not bad. They come on later for me than the other Marconis. My favorite Marconi type to eat has been red Corno di Toro. I also have the yellow, and like it a lot as well.

Stocky Red Roaster is a very good cone shaped sweet red pepper. Growth habit for SRR is moderate which would make it a good container plant.
