Trouble uploading images?
At least three of us have had trouble uploading images in Carolyn's fall feedback thread. For all three of us -- some images will upload, while others will not, even though -- for me, and I believe for the others -- all the images are small jpg files, well within the size requirements, taken with the same camera, resized with the same software, and uploaded from the same desktop folder.
For the images the system won't upload, it says: ----------- Bad Request Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand. Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. ------------ Seems unlikely that the problem is at our end, with three of us seeing it. It is really strange that it gives the error only for some images when all are comparable size, type, location. Just wondered if others have been seeing this problem also -- and thought I'd mention it because, if I hadn't seen that others were getting the same message under the same circumstances (files that should upload with no problems), I'd have thought it must be something at my end. I also wonder if this may not be limiting the feedback Carolyn is getting -- with people trying to post and giving up when getting the messages. The other two who've recently had the problem just posted their text feedback and what images would upload -- and I will, too, if there isn't any improvement -- but it's not unlikely that some might just give up. |

It's nothing that I can deal with myself but you might want to consider contacting Mischka and explaining the problem to see if he can help/

I was glad to see you chirp, Carolyn. You hadn't posted for some days and with the weather reports about upstate New York I was picturing dozens of your deer friends tromping a path around and around a giant snowdrift and murmuring to one another that Carolyn's den was in there and they needed to break a trail to rescue their food source, er, their dear deer friend.
We have snow, but the worst has been prolonged subzero temps. It's taking a break at the moment, with highs for a few days getting above freezing, but they're talking about another surge of polar air perhaps diving down toward the middle of next week. Don't know if they think this wave will be as nearly nationwide as the last one or not. Only six months until spring! |

A bit warmer for the next few days, the wicked winds and cold gone for a few days and not too many hunters even seeing deer, rifle season started last Saturday. Freda got one with bow and arrow last week and that means some good jerky, but she and her son have been here on my property quite a lot, even have a camera attached to a tree up there, said Carolyn waving her hand towards the top of the largest field, camera saw some nice bucks, but not the hunters. My place is a deer super highway all year long.
I like to sit out in the yard and watch them go by, they have no idea I am even there. Worth |

Most important thing is that you're OK -- with snow reports in the northeast sounds as if people in several areas have been having really serious problems. Lots of deer here, too, and they don't usually pay attention to me as long as I have no canine escort. Not so much a deer highway as an area they like to hang around. Haven't seen moose around the house for three or four years, now -- but they must be around. Have a neighbor whose horses kept getting out. He told me that on at least two occasions he'd seen a moose hop the fence into their shed area -- after salt, apparently -- and the horses took one horrified look at him and went over the fence, leaving the moose happily in possession of their home. There don't appear to be others commenting about the image posting problem, which surprises me, with three of us seeing it in the feedback thread. Maybe just not too many trying to post images right now. When I get a chance I'm going to try the images again. If it doesn't work I might try resizing from the original the images it doesn't want to post -- don't think that will make a difference as they seem fine -- but might try. If that doesn't work I'll just post text, with the couple of images it is willing to post. Very odd, though that three of us have seen it refuse to post some, but not all, of similarly processed jpgs -- and I do wonder whether its misbehavior might be limiting posts in the feedback thread. That sort of thing would be particularly likely to discourage those who don't post often. |

Considering that all images came from the same camera, were resized with the same software, and were uploaded from the same folder, and some would upload and others got the error message listed . . . makes it unlikely that a changed server IP address not propagated to the service provider, or other error at this end, is causing the problem, particularly when others at different locations are getting the same error message for some, but not all, images they are trying to upload. Thanks for the thoughts, though . . . sometimes brainstorming does turn up something that can account for an elusive problem. But thus far, still elusive |
