Marglobe

I am looking for a tomato verity that can take heat and humidity. I live on the gulf coast and it's hard to find anything that will live much taste good tomato. Big beef has been my go to tomato .but I have heard that marglobe might be a better choice.
What do you think ,good bad and ugly about this verity?

Marglobe has been my "always" variety for decades -- because it was my grandma's "always" variety from the time it was introduced in the mid 1920's until her last gardening days in the 1980's.

It pretty much dominated the commercial market for some years, until it's place was taken by Marglobe's child, Rutgers -- but grandma liked it because she said it was a rugged tomato, grew well, produced well, and fruit was good for eating, good for chili, good for canning, good for cooking, good for sauce -- the tomato with everything. And I certainly wouldn't argue with grandma!

Edit: I grow it in an area where no sane person grows many tomatoes, and it does well for me most years, but I encourage it. Grandma grew it in various parts of Central, Western and Southern Illinois, and she just planted it, gave it basic care, and her Marglobes produced mountains of tomatoes for her.

I second pretty much what JLJ said. One of the most productive and versatile tomatoes I grow, with good taste to boot. Resisted diseases fairly well.

Consider growing Amazon Chocolate. It is the toughest tomato plant I have found so far. It makes tasty medium sized "black" tomatoes. It is remarkable for its disease resistance, heat tolerance and ability to set fruit in hot weather. I have tried about 50 different "heat tolerant" tomato plants. So far Amazon Chocolate is my favorite.
