Default PL black heart

Hello,

I am wondering if anyone has ever grown a potato leaf black heart tomato?

Here is Brad's Black Heart. While not a Potato Leaf (PL) it will soon be crossed with a PL and be selected for Potato Leaves.
Check Reinhard Kraft's lists. He might have created one.

Yummy. Yes, I have grown Brad's black heart and it's delicious. It is a wispy RL though.

Anyone know of any potato leaf black heart currently available?

I am trying to decide which of my F3 seeds to grow out this year. I want to know if there are any other black potato leaf hearts out there.

Because I just might have... 2.. and they are both a very different shape, colour and size.

Different shape, colour and size... how about earliness?
Pursue as many lines as you can, or pick the one you like best and send me the early one!

Hmm yep one is earlier but both are early enough for Alberta. I'll grow them both and Bower, you will definitely get seeds once I am ready to let my babies go out into the wide world without me

Karen, I bet you know this, but Hespole is Heart Shaped Potato Leafed. The first 2 letters of each of the 4 words makes up it's name. Not black, but could be good for breeding goals.

Default yes I do!

Joined just to post this.!

I have been growing Brads Black Heart from saved seeds for many years. I believe in the second year I saw the potatoe leaf plant appear. (Maybe, 20%) and no, I did not have any other Potatoe leaf plants growing that year.

I ran with the potatoe leaf for a year. Seem to be short stocky plants, with meaty but not heart shaped fruits.

A good tomato.

I have 2011,2012 and 2013 seeds saved. The 2013 I saved only from potatoes leaf plants.

My years of searching has only produced about 2 dozen "possible" PL hearts of ANY color. No blacks. I posted a list awhile back. About half of those 2 dozen may not even exist as PLs, hearts, or both. There is no way of knowing what is currently in development.

Your best chance of getting the best selection from the F3's is to have others help you, with you setting some rules.

As for me, I honor others rules, while basically setting none of my own (though that may have to change if I again host the MMMM swap next year).

Are you doing anything with the Glacier? possible PL heart?

And, are there any F2 seeds left that produced the above F3's? I'd gladly trial some and send back anything/everything that you'd want, with your rules of not sharing (or sharing) with others. The longer you sit on older experimental stuff, the harder it is to get back to, as things multiply and you move in several directions.

It sounds as if you have had a mutation occur. Do the fruits taste the same from both the PL and RL plants? Do you notice any other differences such as time of ripening or amount of fruit set?
