Spring babies!
I feel like I'm on a different wavelength than most of the country... it was 80º F all weekend in San Diego. Feels like another winter that never was, so my mind is focused on the next season!
Really excited about the development of trying out new techniques - esp starting seeds in Diatomaceous earth - it's amazing! The plants seem to grow faster and stronger; and transplanting them is so easy. On top of this, yesterday we went down to the beach for some kelp collecting so I can try out making my own seaweed fertilizer. All these years gardening in a beach city and it never crossed my mind. I'm excited for the next season! |

Heather,
Your babies look fantastic and I am jealous because I will have to wait another 6 weeks before I can start mine. Linda |

haha no, not really. it actually makes planning really difficult. it was 80 F last weekend...we never see that in feb. And summer months can be really cool and overcast - may gray, june gloom.
this was one of the least successful winter gardens ive had, but its still always fun and a learning experience. |

oh and i guess i should have said "for the spring, babies." im not sure yet when i want to plant outside but i find my seedlings take a really long time. the tomatoes esp and I havent had great luck. i also feel i need at least a few months. the zucchinis are growing so fast but everything else is slow and steady.

^^thats what my backyard looks like year round. I havent gotten outside during the right lighting but that photo was taken on Dec. 20th. It is literally impossibly to tell what month it is just looking outside in this city. Anytime! By the way, its Heather...why is my signature not working?!? |

-17 is wind chill without that it is a balmy +1, I actually love the colder weather but this is a bit much. Still the 3 years at Ft. Hood were murder4 months of 100+ I'll pass. Love the picture my yard/deck is under a foot of snow, it's a pain but keeps the beer cold lol |
