My suggestion would be to send a US dollar with the unstamped, self-addressed envelope.

If you don't want to burden the recipient of the SASE you better put 2 US dollars in your SASE because standard postage from USA to Canada is $1.35 US.

You can buy and print stamps right at your house with this website.

Buy it from the eBay.ca site of the United States Postal Service.
Buy some lower denominational stamps too to adjust for letters or packages (higher rates) that are not multiples of the base postage rate.

Postage for a thin letter is presently:
Max. length 11-1/2", height 6-1/8" or thickness 1/4"
US$1.20, Max. 2 ounces; ex., 3 ounces is $1.67
Forever International stamp for thin letter 1-2 ounces

USPS CANADA STORE:
http://stores.ebay.ca/uspostalservic...p2047675.l2563

rate calculator

(forever stamps for domestic US use can also be used to send internationally from USA and are considered at the current domestic 1 ounce rate, presently 0.49, and this is a special rate - check the dimensions of what you send)

I have several in Canada who participate in my annual seed offer and I pay the postage for anyone outside the US, but there are always special circumstances.

A long time friend in Canada who was the originator of seeds for Fish Lake Oxheart, Ashleigh and many more, just went on vacation to FL and was concerned that some of what I'd be listing might not be available, so he sent me an envelope from VA with US postage and the SASE inside had a Global Forever stamp, and I prefer them as well.

When he sends me an SASE fom Canada he uses Canadaian stamps and wants me to send backthose stamps since his niece collects them.

I gave up on the USPS website trying to figure out which postage for which country, and as I said, I use a Global Forever which is good anywhere outside the US .

Carolyn, who forgot to say that some of our Canadian friends ask US Friends to buy seeds for them in the US and then send them on to Canada. Two reasons for that. The mail system in Canada is not the best in terms of delivery time and it's cheaper to do what I just suggested.

I guess postage has gone up. I'm seeing $1.20 for a 1-ounce letter size envelope.

Why is this question not addressed and negotiated directly between the sender and receiver?

Yes it must have gone up; I used to receive letters containing a couple of packs of seeds with a dollar postage on (to UK). The airmail letter I recently received from UFl had the $1.20 postage on.

It was. I told the OP to mail me $2. That leaves me with a forbidden profit of 80 cents, but I thought that was better than telling someone to mail coins, which seems silly. If there is a better way to send international postage in exact change, I am certainly open to it. I never thought of the difficulty of buying US postage when living outside the US. Maybe the links posted earlier can help people.

No way! I bought 200 little ziplock bags at wal-mart tonight for $2. That's the only way to make a business take off, by re-investing the profits and going into the red.
