Default Alice's Egypt Tomato

I'm in a little trouble. I lost my seeds for this Tomato. I believe I sent them to Korea. My wife keeps asking if I started them. I, of course said yes. Meanwhile I'm looking for seeds. I'm willing to pay $20 for 5-10 seeds but am unable to locate any. I tried e-mailing Tatania but get no reply. As an ingenious backup plan I've started Anna Russians and labeled them, you guessed it, ALICES EGYPT.

Oh oh... Not a good thing. I sure hope you find some as that will probably work until your wife takes a bite out of one than you might find yourself in the doghouse.

How long has it been since you emailed Tatiana ? I imagine at this time of the season she is getting hit with orders galore and it just might take her a little bit to get back to emails.

I would try emailing again. Also I would post your request down in the wanted varieties. Just make sure you don't offer to pay for them there. Trades or for free ok, but not offering payment of monies.

Hopefully you'll get an answer from Tatiana or maybe somebody will have a couple of seeds they willing to share or trade you for.

If you look at the link above you'll see that Tania is not offering seeds right now since she didn't list it even for 2014.

Google search brought up no places selling seed.

Two folks are listing it in the 2015 SSE YEarbook, but only SSE members can request seeds.

However, someone sent seeds for it to Reinhard Kraft In Germany, we've traded seeds for almost 20 years now, and it's one that I requested from him. Seeds for all the ones I requested were supposed to be here Friday or Saturday, they didn't come so hopefully at the beginning of the week.

At that time I'll put it on the list that my seed producers choose from, to be grown out this summer and if all goes well, will put it in my 2016 seed offer early next Jan, again, if all goes well.

And it's still possible that someone here might have seeds, and since requests for seeds belong in the Wanted seed subforum, you might want to considder posting this want there and also mentioning that you already put it in General discussion, so that in the event you get duplicate offers, all will know about that.

And please also note that according to the guidelines here no money can be involved in any seed requests as the guidelines in the Two seed subforums forums make clear.

I'm pretty sure that I have some. I'll double check tomorrow.

Can't have you getting in trouble with your wife!

Carolyn
I had noticed that she had experienced a crop failure in 2011 or 2012. I had sent an e-mail in hope that she might have a few seeds. I got my original seeds from Tomatoguy several years ago and had planted it for 3years. It is extremely productive, for me, here in the PNW, My wife and her Korean friends love them. They are a bit sweet for my tastebuds. The fruit size is quite variable, ranging from 5-16 oz

I had saved 100+ seeds A lot of my wifes relatives have started gardening and I purchase seeds every year for them to try. I believe I mistakenly threw them in with one of the packages I sent

Jim, your post made me lol-so hard. I hope you find some. That said I hope SOMEONE saves TONS of seeds this year as I'm sooo curious about this tomato now!
I was also hoping to read up on where the "eqypt" part of the name comes from but there is nothing about it...

Seem like you are out of trouble, Jim.LOL

I am also in the area . Don't you think it is getting too late to start from seeds?
When do you normally plant out ?

I am so glad somebody had a few for you Jim. Don't feel bad though, cuz I just did the same thing myself. Forgot to check all the way into the bottom of a bubbler I was reusing to send seeds to somebody and sent them my seeds too. Thankfully they was an honest enough person that they let me know they had gotten them and sent them back.

Mistakes happen. Just glad your going to be able to have the real thing for your wife.

I don't believe it's to late to start seeds here.in the PNW. I usually start early to mid April. I can tell that I started to early this year. Having said that I did need a Faux Alice's Egypt.
