Default Tomatoes - Carnivorous beasts of prey

Apparently Tomatoes are now classified, along with the venus fly trap, as a carnivorous plant.

Kind of a stretch isn't it? I've never seen an insect trapped by a trichome.

I wonder if this trait is still recessive in some wild species? If so one of you sciency genius types should try to bring it back. Imagine the look on the aphids faces!

Cornell is working on this. They are neat plants, we had some in the greenhouse last spring and it was fun to watch people touch the leafs....though not a good idea if someone has a phobia to sticky things.

That is awesome and could be a huge boon for us tomato growers, especially here in the deep south. Cant wait to get some seeds for this
