Diseased plant or not?
Hi friends-
Out of all 38 plants, I grew 36 from seed. The two I did not grow look to be diseased. This is a Suddaths Strain Pink Brandywine. What do you think? Pull the plant? It's 2 feet from other tomato plants that have no sign of strain-yet. Thanks in advance!! Is this what I get for buying the plant vs. starting my own?!

Half the plant is yellowing... It's blooming like crazy and growing so maybe it's nothing to worry about?

It probably just outgrew its nitrogen supply. Since its blooming I wouldnt give it anymore, or not much anyway.

A bit of epsom salt may help.

You should post a pic that better shows the problem so one of the master gardeners can take a look. I didnt see anything especially alarming in that pic. Im always a bit leery about treating problems using a shotgun approach when fruit are trying to set. Epsom salts are OK if its Mg deficient, but if its not, it could mess with Ca absorption which could aggravate blossom end rot.

I will post a better picture tmo. I gave it epsom salts last week but only 1tbs per plant. Hopefully that doesn't hurt it. All my other plants seem to be thriving after it so... Nothing is alarming Stvrob but the yellow streaking is quite bizarre which makes me think perhaps a disease?? Or stress I suppose... Thanks for your help.

I don't think that plant is diseased.
Feed them some nitrogen rich fertilizer. |

Take pictures of the bottom of the leaves. Are there any tiny yellowing spots? Mites are more common than not. They are so tiny, most of the times I detect them as they already spread. Luckily they are treatable.

I don't like the looks of the leaf in the middle and the leaf in the lower right hand corner. Both show an irregular dark patch surrounded by a yellow halo. I would be concerned about Early Blight and break out the copper spray.
Go to the "Common Garden Diseases and Pest" forum and read Mischka's thread titled "Forewarned is Forearmed: How to read your tomato leaves" There is a section on Early Blight. |

What I see is a relatively healthy plant. Remove the two leaves with lesions and give it a drink of a balanced, complete all purpose or tomato fertilizer. In future, any leaf with a lesion such as that gets Removed asap. Regardless of whether a plant is blooming or not, tomatoes are heavy feeders and healthy foliage needs nitrogen.
with clean sharp pruners remove all foliage close to the ground and mulch that plant to protect from soil-borne fungal disease splashing up onto the lowest leaves. clean your pruners and wash your hands before moving on to another plant. Always try to avoid wetting the foliage when watering. Keep a close eye on your plants and prune out any obviously diseased foliage right away.
