Replanting where diseased tomatoes were?
Hello- I just pulled the Suddaths Strain Pink Brandywine yesterday. It was 1 ft away on both sides from other tomato plants that seem to be fine. This is in a raised bed. Can I replant another tomato? I reviewed the disease list and cant figure out what it was that plagued this plant, other then it touching a diseased looking calendula. Across the garden, I pulled a Sungold (another plant bought from a nursery -grrrrr!!!) as the leaves and branches on the bottom were not only curling but flipping. Sad but true so I pulled it too. It was in a big pot surrounded by flowers and setting a ton of fruit. I didn't want my other plants to get infected with either issue.
So- would you bring in fresh soil and plant another tomato or let it be until next season? I hate to see an open spot where another tomato could be but also don't want to have this issue all over again in another month or two?

If you have no idea what was wrong with the plant maybe there was nothing wrong and just plant another plant in its spot.

I think you just pulled up two perfectly healthy plants.

I don't see anything wrong about trying new soil. If you feel there is something wrong or undesirable about the existing soil in a certain area - change it.

Thanks guys. Well by time I got the two plants out, both root systems looked very short and odd. I THINK I made the right decision. As a gift, my mom ordered me Yellow Submarine, Druzba, Peacevine, Mariannas Peace, and 1884. So this worked out great, I just need to add some fresh soil and pray. haha.
